Main Street has traditionally been the middle of town of Dallas. several of the major dallas retailers, hotels and banks once located here, and also the district includes the city’s skyscrapers. Subsequent development of downtown moved north and east to town Center District in coming years, leaving several historic buildings inefficient for contemporary offices.

The Main Street District was the primary district of downtown Dallas to expertise intensive urban revival. Several of the grand historic buildings that had been neglected have been completely restored. Pegasus Plaza, an urban plaza bounded by the Magnolia Hotel, Adolphus Tower, Iron Cactus Restaurant,  and also the Kirby Building, could be a gathering place for guests and residents at the central location of the district. The slender tree-lined street could be a major pedestrian route through downtown. The district contains several restaurants that are outdoors, basement night clubs and retail stores (most notably Neiman Marcus). Whereas many of the buildings have found new life, there are several still awaiting restoration. Main Street Garden Park could be a new focal park of the district’s east finish.
