Ashton Hotel Fort Worth History

The Ashton Hotel Fort Worth is a boutique-style hotel and has served as a wonderful stay for over 100 years. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Ashton is packed with history and is a fairly luxurious place to stay. Now, when I say “historical” that doesn’t mean it’s not modern or contemporary – they’ve combined that side into the setting as well. This historical building was restored back in April of 2001. During the restoration, they made sure that the details of the architecture kept as much of the originality as possible. Did you know that back in the day there was a place called “The Fort Worth Club” that took up space here? In fact, the fourth floor of the building had what they used to call sleeping rooms that the Club members had access to. All the way back in 1916 the first jewelry store in the area opened up on the ground floor.

Rooms at The Ashton Hotel

Each room and suite at The Ashton in Fort Worth stands out with features that make it truly inspired. Booking one of these Rooms will definitely be much different from one of the boxed hotels. Starting with the Signature Room, the large King bed with down pillows and luxury linens allows for a great night’s sleep. For that Romantic stay, the Spa suite might be the answer with its in-room, claw-foot whirlpool tub for two. Additional space is added as you move up to the Signature suite with a total of 560 square feet to roam around. The two-person Jacuzzi Tub is also wonderful for those Romantic stays.

Ashton Sundance Square

Many think that the hotel is called “Ashton Sundance Square”. And, I don’t blame them. If you stay here it might as well be called that because of the 2-minute walking distance to Sundance Square. It’s a 20 blocks stretch of stores, restaurants, and bars. The sidewalks are paved in brick which is kinda cool. If you are staying at the Ashton and are lucky enough to be there during one of the art festivals, you’ll definitely want to check it out because those are typically held at Sundance Square. If you are there from late November through Christmas, the Sundance Square Parade of Lights are is a spectacular thing to see for sure. Antique cars, equestrian units, horse and carriages, and of course, floats that are super colorful and lit up with bright lights are all a part of this event.

It’s a historic kind of place and you can spend quite a bit of time there going through the shops and seeing street vendors and artists during busy times. You’ll have to try some awesome barbeque at a restaurant called Riscky’s Barbeque – it’s the best in the area some people say. Competitors gather weekly at the rodeo here every Friday and Saturday night – it’s known as the “World’s First Indoor Rodeo”. Last but not least, Billy Bob’s is a country music club and is truly a different country western style kind of experience! On Friday and Saturday nights they even have live bull-riding shows!

Is the Ashton Hotel in Fort Worth Haunted?
I haven’t heard that about this hotel. I don’t believe in ghosts, but they do say the Fort Worth Stockyards Hotel is the most haunted building in all of Fort Worth, specifically Room 218. Allegedly, guests have seen the ghost of a cowboy in the “Cowboy Room” The Miss Molly’s Hotel (Historic Stockyards area). The Renaissance Dallas Hotel, they say, is haunted. “They say” that a local man jumped off the roof and died. And, because of that, it’s said that the roof area is haunted, particularly the west side of the building where he landed.

Ashton Hotel Fort Worth Reviews

All in all the Ashton Hotel in Fort Worth has almost perfect reviews and as of the time this article was published they are ranked 18th out of 108 hotels in the entire area of Fort Worth. You know, there is not really anything bad I can say other than if you stay in the rooms facing Main Street it can be loud. In fact, if you stay on the higher floors, they are always the quietest in any hotel. You’ll want to ask for a room that is not overlooking the parking garage. The views are best on the south and east sides of the hotel. The coolest thing guests talk about are the chocolate chip cookies that are put on the pillows on your bed each evening. I’ve never heard of that! See what others are saying about the Ashton Hotel in Fort Worth.
